Wine Hunter Award 2026: Four Awards

For the second consecutive year, Cabert Cantina di Bertiolo has received important recognition at The WineHunter Award, the prestigious award connected to the Merano WineFestival that selects high-quality wines from Italy and around the world.

Following the results achieved in 2025, this year our Casali Roncali DOC Friuli Colli Orientali wines have once again distinguished themselves in the WineHunter tastings. Four labels, including both white and red wines, have been awarded, confirming the quality and consistency of our winery’s work and our commitment to enhancing one of the most representative wine appellations of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Casali Roncali Wines Awarded at The WineHunter Award 2026

Four wines from the Casali Roncali collection received recognition this year:

Four different wines that showcase the diversity of the Friuli Colli Orientali wine region through native and international grape varieties, ranging from elegant white wines to characterful reds.

RED AWARD

The Cabernet Sauvignon Casali Roncali DOC Friuli Colli Orientali is one of the red wines in our collection dedicated to the Colli Orientali area.

Structure, intensity and elegance characterize a wine produced in a territory where international grape varieties have long found ideal conditions to develop a distinctive identity.

The new WineHunter recognition also confirms the consistent quality of Casali Roncali Cabernet Sauvignon, which was already awarded in the previous edition.

RED AWARD

Among this year’s awarded wines is once again the Schioppettino Casali Roncali DOC Friuli Colli Orientali, made from one of the most representative native grape varieties of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Schioppettino is deeply connected to the winemaking history of the region and is particularly known for its distinctive spicy character and elegance.

After receiving recognition at The WineHunter Award 2025, Schioppettino Casali Roncali 2023 has been awarded again in 2026. This result is particularly significant as it confirms the consistent quality of this label and its ability to express the identity of Friuli Colli Orientali red wines.

RED AWARD

The Chardonnay 2025 Casali Roncali DOC Friuli Colli Orientali is also among the wines recognized in 2026.

This international grape variety is interpreted through the distinctive character of the Friulian territory, where climate and vineyard conditions contribute to the production of Italian white wines that combine freshness, structure and elegance.

The inclusion of Chardonnay among the wines selected by WineHunter further broadens the range of awards received by the Casali Roncali collection.

Completing the selection is the Pinot Grigio 2025 Casali Roncali DOC Friuli Colli Orientali.

Pinot Grigio is one of the grape varieties most closely associated with the production of white wine from Friuli Venezia Giulia and plays an important role both in regional viticulture and on international wine markets.

The recognition received at The WineHunter Award 2026 rewards the Casali Roncali interpretation of one of the most internationally recognized grape varieties of Friuli.

What Is The WineHunter Award?

The WineHunter Award is a quality recognition assigned to products selected by the WineHunter tasting panels and is closely connected to the Merano WineFestival, one of Italy’s best-known wine and food events.

Through dedicated tastings, the selection evaluates the quality of the wines and identifies those considered worthy of inclusion in the WineHunter selection.

For a winery, receiving The WineHunter Award means having its wines recognized within an established selection that brings together producers and wines from different regions and countries.

Cantina di Bertiolo Receives WineHunter Recognition for the Second Consecutive Year

The 2026 results are particularly meaningful for us because they follow our successful debut in the competition last year.

In 2025, during our first participation, both Schioppettino 2023 Casali Roncali and Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 Casali Roncali received the WineHunter Award Rosso.

In 2026, Cantina di Bertiolo returns to the WineHunter selection with four awarded Casali Roncali wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Schioppettino, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio.

This continuity represents an important recognition of the path we have taken and of the work carried out every day, from vineyard management to winemaking and ageing.

Casali Roncali: DOC Friuli Colli Orientali Wines Expressing Their Territory

The Casali Roncali collection was created to express through wine the distinctive character of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, one of the best-known wine-growing areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia in northeastern Italy.

Here, our winery produces DOC Friuli Colli Orientali wines from native varieties such as Schioppettino, alongside international grapes that have long been part of the region’s winemaking tradition, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio.

The four recognitions received at The WineHunter Award 2026 reflect this diversity: two red wines and two white wines, offering four different interpretations of the same remarkable wine region.

For Cabert being selected for the second consecutive year is an encouragement to continue investing in quality and in the promotion of Friuli Venezia Giulia wines, bringing the identity and character of DOC Friuli Colli Orientali to wine professionals and consumers in Italy and around the world.
