Decanter World Wine Awards 2025: Silver Medal and 90 Points for Sauvignon Cabert DOC Friuli

The Sauvignon Cabert DOC Friuli 2025 has been awarded a Silver Medal with 90 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026, one of the most influential and respected wine competitions in the world.

This international recognition confirms the quality of our wines and the daily commitment of Cabert, Cantina di Bertiolo to producing authentic expressions of the Friuli DOC appellation, one of Italy’s most renowned wine-growing areas.

Organized by Decanter, the internationally acclaimed wine magazine founded in London in 1975, the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA)

are considered among the most prestigious wine competitions worldwide.

Every year, thousands of wines from dozens of countries are evaluated through rigorous blind tastings by an international panel of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, winemakers, journalists, and wine experts. Only wines demonstrating outstanding quality, typicity, balance, and consistency receive medals and high scores.

For wineries around the world, a Decanter medal represents an internationally recognized guarantee of excellence.

Sauvignon Cabert DOC Friuli: freshness, elegance and varietal character

The jury awarded our Sauvignon Cabert DOC Friuli 2025 90 points, describing it as:

“Excellent value. Intense aromatics of passionfruit and papaya, classic grassy notes and a fresh citrusy palate. Crowd pleasing and approachable.”

The tasting highlights the wine’s vibrant aromatic profile, characterized by tropical fruit, citrus freshness and the classic herbaceous notes that distinguish the best Sauvignon wines from Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Thanks to its lively acidity, balance and approachable style, Sauvignon Cabert is an ideal companion for seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, vegetable dishes and fresh cheeses.

The excellence of Sauvignon from Friuli

The Friuli DOC denomination is internationally recognized as one of Italy’s finest areas for producing Sauvignon Blanc. The region’s unique combination of mineral soils, significant day-night temperature variation and careful vineyard management allows the grape variety to develop remarkable aromatic intensity, freshness and elegance.

For decades, Cantina di Bertiolo has been committed to enhancing the identity of Friuli through wines that faithfully express their origin, combining tradition, innovation and sustainable viticulture.

An award that celebrates the work behind every bottle

Receiving a Silver Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026 is a source of great pride for our winery. More than a score, it represents recognition of the passion and dedication invested every day by our growers and winemaking team, from the vineyard to the bottle.

This achievement further strengthens Cabert’s position among the leading producers of Italian wines, Friuli DOC wines, and premium Sauvignon Blanc appreciated by wine lovers and professionals around the world.

We will continue working with the same commitment to create wines that authentically represent the character, quality and winemaking heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
